Study On The Relationship Between Urban-Rural Income Gap And Urbanization Level

Since the reform and opening up,my country’s urbanization has made significant progress in economic,social and spatial structure.2021 is an important year for the continuous promotion of urban-rural integration and the country’s sustainable development.At the same time,however,the relative gap between urban and rural incomes is increasing,and the level of urbanization and the income gap between urban and rural areas seem to be inextricably linked.Incomplete capital chain,lack of talents,and backward infrastructure have become important reasons hindering the development of township enterprises,and imperfect public services and indifferent local people have become important reasons for restricting rural development.Therefore,exploring the relationship between the level of urbanization and the urban-rural income gap is of great value for getting rid of the current predicament.The main work of this paper is as follows.First,collect panel data of relevant indicators from 2010 to 2019 in 31 provinces(municipalities,autonomous regions)in my country,and preprocess the data.15 indicators are selected from five levels of urban population,industrial economy,social conditions,infrastructure and spatial structure to construct a comprehensive evaluation mechanism for the level of urbanization.Using entropy method,analytic hierarchy process and grey relational analysis to comprehensively determine the weight of urbanization level,the urbanization level of 31 provinces(cities,autonomous regions)was obtained,and the comparative analysis found that the urbanization level of 31 provinces(cities,autonomous regions)from 2010 to 20]9 There is no big difference in the geographical ranking of urbanization level.The comprehensive level of urbanization in coastal areas is relatively high,while the level of urbanization in remote areas such as Tibet,Guizhou,and Qinghai is relatively low.At the same time,a formula was constructed to calculate the urban-rural income gap,and it was found that with the passage of years,the urban-rural income gap tends to gradually narrow.Then,with the help of the calculated urbanization level index and urban-rural income gap data for empirical analysis.Use the intermediary effect model to point out the path relationship between the urbanization level and the urban-rural income gap and the per capita consumption expenditure of residents.The urban-rural income gap has a complete intermediary effect on the urbanization level and the per capita consumption expenditure of the residents;use the threshold effect model to explore the nonlinearity between the two It is found that the level of urbanization has a triple threshold effect on the urban-rural income gap;at the same time,the quantile regression model is used to discuss the variable relationships and coefficient differences under different quantile points,that is,the level of urbanization has a negative effect on the urban-rural income gap,0.25 The level of urbanization below the 0.5 quintile has a greater impact on the urban-rural income gap.Finally,this article puts forward the following suggestions:1.Reduce the income gap between urban and rural areas and promote the integration of urban and rural areas.The government needs to increase subsidies for related industries and give appropriate preference to rural areas in resource allocation.2.Focus on the western regions and other areas with backward urbanization development,and promote coordinated regional development.3.Focus on cities in the middle level of urbanization and grasp the important turning point of urbanization.That is,focus on cities with intermediate levels of urbanization.
