Study On "Lingyan Temple Tablet" By Li Yong

This paper chooses Lingyan Temple Tablet in Changqing,Shandong Province as the main study object,in order to explain that the study of Lingyan Temple Tablet by Li Yong in Tang Dynasty has important guiding significance for the later calligraphy innovation and the research of stone inscription monograph.The tablet was refocused in the Qing Dynasty when the study of stone monuments and steles flourished.At that time,a large number of epigraphists went to visit the tablet.But so far,scholars have not systematically studied this tablet.This paper breaks through the traditional technical analysis in the field of calligraphy art.It tries to combine the academic knowledge of epigraphy,and uses the methods of literature analysis,field investigation and comparative analysis to analyze the status and the rubbing version of Lingyan Temple Tablet.And it also deeply explores Li Yong’s traces in Shandong,the content of inscriptions and the calligraphy style of inscriptions.Firstly,through the collection of a large number of documents,this paper discusses Li Yong’s traces in Shandong in detail,including the reasons for his official career,making friends and writing Lingyan Temple Tablet.Secondly,the author makes an on-the-spot investigation on the current situation,inscriptions,shape and structure of Lingyan Temple Tablet,in particular,the collation of the inscriptions supplements some deficiencies in the stone inscription monograph.In addition,through the collation and research of the rubbings of the tablet,the author details the information of the rubbings one by one,and proofreads the version word by word and line by line.Finally,this paper,through the method of comparative analysis,compares Lingyan Temple Tablet with other works of stone tablet and Li Yong’s calligraphic works in the same period,summarizes its calligraphy artistic style,and thus proves the literature value and calligraphy value of Lingyan Temple Tablet.
