As a branch of computer science,artificial intelligence（AI）usually refers to the technology of presenting human intelligence through ordinary computer programs.It is considered to be one of the three cutting-edge technologies（genetic engineering,nanoscience and artificial intelligence）.This technology is reshaping industries and disrupting existing business models.At the same time,the role of managers urgently needs to be evolved.The source text is selected from The Future of Management in an AI World Redefining Purpose and Strategy in the Fourth Industrial Revolution published by Palgrave Macmillan and edited by two professors Jordi Canals and Franz Heukamp of IESE Business School.The book contains international insights from key figures in the field of enterprise management and science and technology,and expounds many challenges faced by enterprises,such as decision-making,enterprise strategy,management development and so on.Artificial intelligence technology and enterprise management belong to the combination of interdisciplinary fields,and according to the text type theory,the source text belongs to informative text.The translation of this kind of scientific and technological texts dominated by information transmission requires simplicity and clarity.The translation variation theory,proposed by Huang Zhonglian,is taken as the framework of this translation practice report（hereinafter referred to as the report）.This theory adopts variation means to extract the translation activities related to the content of the original work,reflecting the translator’s subjectivity.The means of translation used in this report are addition,reformation,condensation and narration,realizing the target reader oriented translation.This report finds that translation is a purposeful activity,and the purpose is part of the value of the source text;translation variation theory meets the requirements of information transmission as the center of scientific and technological texts,and that different from the traditional complete translation,translation variation theory can meet the special needs of specific readers under specific conditions.The report is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the background,features and the significance of the translation project.The second part is literature review,which is carried out from two aspects: translation variation theory and scientific text translation.The third part is translation process.The fourth part is case analysis,analyzing the application of “addition”,“reformation”,“condensation” and“narration” in the selected materials combined with translation examples.The fifth part is the conclusion,including the major findings and shortcomings.
