New Changes And Persistence ——On Li Guangtian’s Prose Creation During The Anti Japanese War

As a famous modern and contemporary prose writer,Li Guangtian came to prominence in the 1930 s because of his creation of local prose.He has written a lot of works in his life.He is involved in literary fields such as novels,poetry,prose,literary criticism and folk literature.Looking back on his creation,prose is the most numerous and successful.His first collection of essays,Zhou Zuoren’s preface,and Li Jianwu’s special comment articles show the high starting point.Since then,he has been writing continuously and formed his own unique style.After the Anti Japanese War,great changes have taken place in Li Guangtian’s thought and creation.During this period,he created three prose collections "outside the circle","echo" and "essays on the edge of the sun",and collected and published his literary comments and literary theory articles.As the turning point of Li Guangtian’s creation,his works are richer than those in the 1930 s,the theme content of his prose is broader,and the artistic expression is more mature.However,there are few relevant studies,which simply summarize the change of his thought as the change of identity,multi impressional generalization and lack of overall grasp.We can have a more comprehensive understanding of the evolution of Li Guangtian’s prose and his literary style in the 1930 s.The paper is mainly divided into three parts:The first part explores the influence of the era background and literary atmosphere on Li Guangtian’s prose creation during the war of resistance against Japan.Firstly,it introduces two main literary tendencies in the literary world at that time.One is that the mainstream literature advocates literature to serve the war of resistance against Japan,and the other is that liberalism adheres to literary independence and advocates that literature has nothing to do with the war of resistance against Japan.Li Guangtian was obviously more influenced by the Anti Japanese War literature at that time.In the era of Anti Japanese and national salvation,Li Guangtian began to move closer to the mainstream Anti Japanese War literature and accepted the Marxist literary theory,but he did not give up the pursuit of literary independence.The second part analyzes the new changes in Li Guangtian’s prose creation during the Anti Japanese War,mainly from three aspects: theme content,literary form and thought and emotion.The war forced Li Guangtian to move from a small circle of personal life to a broad society.His works also changed from expressing personal feelings to expressing the theme of the era of resistance against Japan and national salvation,and made a comprehensive presentation of the life of the lower class people in the rear area;From pursuing pure literature to emphasizing the practical utility of literature,educating people with artistic images and making prose language colloquial;From emotional restraint to clear love and hate,it directly exposes and criticizes the dark society and rulers.The third part discusses the adherence of Li Guangtian’s prose creation to "truth,goodness and beauty" during the Anti Japanese war.The principle of authenticity runs through Li Guangtian’s whole creation.He has always presented his true views,feelings and thoughts in his works.At the same time,he has always been full of care for the people at the bottom,hoping to explore the light of human nature and achieve the purpose of rebuilding national character.While pursuing the utilitarianism of literature,it also pays attention to the aesthetic value of literature,and continues the simple and natural artistic style in the early stage.Although it draws materials from small things in daily life,it is good at creating natural poetic images and writing new ideas from ordinary things.
