On The Reference Of The Painting Language Of The Nabis To Graduation Design

The Nabis,as a French art group established at the end of 19 th century,fostered a decorative and symbolic painting style through the inheritance of previous arts and innovative development.Although with an existence of mere ten years,the painting theories and concepts it advocated have exerted great influences on the development of modern art schools.And also,it carried on the past heritage and opened up the future of Western art history.Therefore,taking the form and development of the Nabis’ art as the entry points,this thesis tries to summarize the painting features of the Nabis and conduct analysis with examples of Nabis’ art works so as to discuss the diversity of Nabis’ painting language and apply the experience in the graduation design.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction of the Nabis.The form and development as well as painting features of the Nabis are two aspects of introduction.In the second chapter,the painting language and some typical works,mainly the works created by painters of the Nabis,are analyzed.The painting language of the Nabis is studied in-depth from three aspects: the theme selection,the decorative language of colors,and the mysterious meanings of symbols.Next,in the third chapter,the aesthetic values and significance of the Nabis’ painting language are discussed.Last,the fourth chapter is a discussion of the reference of the painting language of the Nabis to graduation design.With these four chapters,the whole thesis is completed.
