The national quality video open course Criminal Psychology is lectured by Professor Liu Jianqing of China University of Political Science and Law.This open course comprehensively and systematically introduces the basic theories of criminal psychology as well as the psychology of violent crime, the psychology of juvenile delinquency and other key contents of criminal psychology. It introduces the less well-known professional knowledge in understandable words, and deepens the public’s understanding of the knowledge in this field. As an effective way for Chinese universities to impart knowledge, open courses can provide education to the public quickly and conveniently, which is conducive to promoting exchange of higher education at home and abroad. The selection of national quality video open courses as the corpus for simulated consecutive interpreting is conducive to spreading the achievements of Chinese higher education in the field of criminal psychology, attracting people at home and abroad to study and research, and improving the international influence of Chinese education.Based on the open course Criminal Psychology, this thesis is a simulated consecutive interpreting practice, aiming at exploring the specific issues of energy allocation in the process of interpreting. It covers the two stages of interpreting proposed by Gile, which are mainly reflected in the following three aspects. The first is energy allocation of listening and analysis including unclear dialect hearing and sentence components missing. The second is energy allocation of memory which consists of short-term memory cycle and the understanding obstacles brought by professional knowledge. The last is energy allocation of notes which includes digital information missing and redundancy in notes.Combining the analysis and Gile’s effort model, this thesis discusses the corresponding solutions, including the following six aspects: pre-interpreting dialect training, making up missing components,short-term memory training, professional knowledge accumulation,pre-interpreting digital interpretation training, and omission of notes in interpretation. This interpretation practice simulated the real process of Chinese-English consecutive interpretation as much as possible, aiming at optimizing the energy distribution in interpretation and improving the quality of interpretation. At the same time,it aims to promote the knowledge in criminal psychology and spread the achievement of higher education in China. It is hoped that this practice can provide some useful reference for the successive translation practice of such national quality video open course.
