Web-casting,or live streaming, uses new forms of communication to broadcast online, which can spread the information of new releases, live conferences, interviews, product introduction and so on.It is convenient,real-time and dynamic, and is not restricted by region,so that online simultaneous interpreting(SI)could be applied and developed.Recently, game industry is becoming more and more heated, while there are still relatively few studies on simultaneous interpreting of game product launches and game interpreting. This thesis selects the SI of E3 live media briefing launched by a well-known foreign company—Ubisoft, and the research is carried out from the perspective of Daniel Gile’s Effort Model. The data of this research is from the video published by Ubisoft’s official account on Bilibili,a popular video website in China.Gile’s Effort Model holds that interpreting needs some kind of mental energy, and the supply of it is limited. At the same time, interpreting would take up almost the whole energy, and the demand of it may be more than the total amount.Based on these two ideas,Gile draws a conclusion of the distribution of interpreters’ energy, which is,SI = L + M + P + C,in order to help or guide interpreters to distribute their energy in a better way,and solve various problems in the process of real-time interpreting, improving the efficiency as well as quality of interpreting.Based on Effort Model, this thesis finds that during the SI of E3 live media briefing, interpreters may have certain pressure in the process of listening and analysis, speech production,short-term memory, and coordination.Because interpreters have very limited mental energy, too much energy allocated to one part will lead to insufficient energy in other parts. Therefore, interpreters need to allocate their mental energy to each part reasonably,so as to reduce the conditions of misinterpreting, lack of information, inaccurate interpreting of specialized vocabularies caused by insufficient energy.Interpreters could use a few techniques, such as anticipation, concision tactics, syntactic linearity, and appropriate adjustment in order to deal with the pressure in the parts of listening and analysis, speech production,short-term memory, and coordination, which would be helpful for completing the interpreting task.
