A Translation Report On Unmanned Aircraft System （UAS） Flight Operations And User’s Manual Released By TxDOT Flight Services

With the rapid development of the drone industry in recent years,consumers have become more interested in drones.The use of drones involves issues such as national airspace and personal privacy,so it is necessary to raise consumers’ awareness of using drones in accordance with legal documents.At this time,translating related English regulatory documents into Chinese is particularly necessary.Based on the Unmanned Aircraft System Flight Operations and User’s Manual translated during my internship at Haitong International Securities Company Limited,this translation report describes in detail the whole translation process from preparation before translation to project delivery.The first chapter is a general description of the translation project,mainly introducing the background and significance of the project;The second chapter describes the translation process from three aspects,namely,preparation before translation,execution during translation and proofreading after translation;The third chapter is the main part of this paper.Under the guidance of Katharina Reiss’ s text typology theory,the manual is defined as an informative text,whose text feature focuses on information accuracy and preciseness.According to specific cases,this paper expounds the translation methods of technical terms,abbreviations and nominalization,and discusses the translation strategies of passive sentences,imperative sentences and inanimate subject sentences.The fourth chapter is the author’s summary of the translation project.
