Aircraft maintenance is foundational and necessary to ensure the flight safety.In the daily maintenance work,the English version of the maintenance manual is commonly used.Its language belongs to the English text of science and technology,which is objective,accurate,rigorous and professional.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory,this translation practice selects Aircraft Maintenance Manual of Air China’s Boeing 737-NG as the source text,to make the analysis and summary of the translation of aircraft maintenance manual.This translation report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,including the background,significance and basic structure of the translation,and the overall introduction of the report.The second chapter is the process of translation,including the selection and introduction of translation materials and theories,the query of professional terms and other translation matters.The third chapter is the analysis of the translation strategies of vocabulary,syntax,text and style of the aircraft maintenance manual based on Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory.In the last chapter,the author summarizes the translation practice and looks forward to the future translation work,so as to provide reference for translation learners and translators in this field.
