| In the background of the global population ageing,the application of smart clothing in the elderly market is creating a new wave of development in the textile and clothing industry.The text of the filed has complex relationships between sentences,a rigorous grammatical structure,a formal tone,objective statements,a high degree of logic and a high level of terminology,which also covers the knowledge of other discipline.The translation of international cutting-edge works in this field may provide some inspiration to those working in the domestic textile and garment industry in the development of textile and garment production,education and research.The text Smart Clothing for the Ageing Population is excerpted from chapter 18 of Smart Clothes and Wearable Technology,with a total of 10,408 words.It mainly focuses on the potential market of the smart clothing for the ageing population in terms of user needs,commercial realities,the culture of the user,the demand of activity,the demands of the body,aesthetic concerns,technology design and development and future trends.This report addresses the issues that the translator should be aware of in the translation of integrating scientific and technical texts across multiple disciplines: how to prepare for translation to ensure the quality and progress of the translation;and how to use translation techniques and strategies to ensure the readability and acceptability of the translation.This report draws on the case study based on the framework of Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation（CEA Framework）proposed by Professor Li Changshuan.The comprehension section covers the translator’s problems and solutions in comprehension of background information,words and sentences and context.The expression section deals with the translator’s problems and solutions in four areas: colloquialism,translationese,lack of reader awareness and textual coherence.And the adaptation section addresses how the translator adapt the original text by using translation techniques such as omission,conversion and inversion and strategy of explanation.This report is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction of the report.The second part is the description of the translation task,which mainly introduces the background and significance of the translation task and the contents and forms of the text.The third part is the description of the translation process which contains before-translation,while-translation and post-translation.The fourth part introduces the CEA analysis framework in detail.The fifth part is the main body of this report,which conducts translation cases analysis with CEA framework.The last part is the conclusion of this translation practice,which mainly describes the translator’s gains and reflections of this practice as well as suggestions for future the translator. |
