The Research On Bi Zisu And LiaoDongShuGao

Bi Zisu（1580-1628）,Ming Wanli forty-four years（1616）Jinshi,Dingxing county magistrate,head of the Ministry of Rites,military councilor,Liaodong governor and other positions.Liao Dong Shu Gao is a compilation of the memorial to the throne he writed in the first year of chongzhen（1628）when he was governor of Liaodong.It has four volumes,including 21 memorial to the throne,two messages,two battlefield reports.Liao Dong Shu Gao is of great historical value to the study of northeast China history and Ming History,but there is no academic research on this book.Therefore,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the author,book,edition,content and value of Liao Dong Shu Gao,hoping to provide reference for the academic use of this book.The first part of this paper starts from the Bi’s family of Zichuan,his official career and the causes of his early death.Firstly,the author investigated Bi Zisu’s family and explored the relationship between Bi Zisu’s integrity and his fine family tradition.Then according to the time sequence of his generalizes the political career,he served as an official for more than 20 years and was deeply loved by the people.When he was governor,he made many suggestions to maintain the situation in Liaodong.Finally discusses the many content related to his death,after analysis of a variety of historical data,it is concluded that there are multiple reasons.Including he was tortured physically and mentally during he worked in Liaodong,resented the mutiny of the soldiers,and desponded the situation at the end of the Ming Dynasty.The second part summarizes the writing background,the process of compiled book and editions of Liao Dong Shu Gao.The tense internal and external situation in Liaodong region in the first year of Chongzhen is analyzed.In order to protect the security of the border area,Bi Ziyan made several suggestions,and collected the contents of which into Liao Dong Shu Gao,a book for future generations to comment on the merits and faults of his brother during his tenure.In addition,this chapter also introduces the extant editions of Liao Dong Shu Gao.In the third part,the contents of Liao Dong Shu Gao are summarized,classified,interpreted and analyzed in accordance with the three aspects of rates,military deployment and border administration.In these three aspects,the contents are divided in detail,in order to get a comprehensive and systematic understanding of Bi Zisu’s main activities during he worked in Liaodong and Liao Dong Shu Gao.The fourth part analyzes the important value of Liao Dong Shu Gao.The suggestions on military affairs and personnel affairs in Liao Dong Shu Gao are mostly adopted,which has certain practical value for stabilizing Liaodong border defense.In addition,Liao Dong Shu Gao is an important first-hand historical material for the study of the Ningyuan Mutinous rebellion,which preserves the diplomatic documents of Nuzhen and Ming Dynasty in the first year of Chongzhen.It is also a supplementary historical material for the study of financial affairs in the late Ming Dynasty and an important historical material for the study of the situation in Liaodong in the late Ming Dynasty.Therefore,Liao Dong Shu Gao not only had practical value at that time,but also had rich,unique and important historical value today.
