A Study On The Evolution Of Nanzhao Historical Figures To The Benzhu ——Take Longkan Village’s Meng Shilong Benzhu In Dali As An Example

The Benzhu is the guardian in the Bai villages.And the Nanzhao historical figures are one of the most important contents of the Bai Benzhu worship,which is one of the main carriers of the historical and cultural heritage of Nanzhao and the memories of the Bai public history and culture.This paper tries to study the Nanzhao historical and cultural heritage from the perspective of the Benzhu worship of Nanzhao historical figures.Meng Shilong,the Benzhu in Longkan village,Dali.is taken as the entry point.It discusses the evolution from the Nanzhao historical figure to the Benzhu of the Bai and the research on the Nanzhao historical and cultural heritage with its Benzhu culture as the carrier.Firstly,the paper combs and analyzes the evolution process of Meng Shilong,a historical figure in Nanzhao,from Meng Shilong to the Benzhu in combination with historical documents.Secondly,the present situation of Meng Shilong’s worship in Dali folk is investigated.This paper focuses on the worship of Meng Shilong and related sacrificial activities in Dali Longkan village.Through the research,it is concluded that: The cultural phenomenon of sacrificial Meng Shilong Benzhu worship continues for more than a thousand years.But the sacrificial mode,date and space change with time,reflecting the essence of Benzhu worship serving people’s realistic needs.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the general situation of Longkan village.This paper introduces and analyzes the natural geographical environment,historical development,administrative division,the Benzhu worship space and the historical and cultural accumulation of the Longkan village in detail.The second part introduces the life story of Meng Shilong who was the king of Nanzhao.It mainly includes how Meng Shilong governed the Nanzhao Kingdom,the conflict with Tang Dynasty and Meng Shilong’s evaluation in the past dynasties.It analyzes and interprets the king Meng Shilong of Nanzhao from the internal affairs and military actions.The third part introduces the folk worship of Meng Shilong in Dali.This paper summarizes the present situation of the Bai,Yi and Han villagers worshiping Meng Shilong in Dali area,and analyzes the historical reasons.The fourth part introduces the historical memory of the evolution of Meng Shilong Benzhu in Longkan village,Dali.This paper makes a detailed description of the origin of the name of Longkan village,the evolution and memory of the Benzhu since Ming and Qing Dynasties,the Meng Shilong’s posthumous title to the continuation of the title of the Benzhu and the evolution of the Benzhu’s image are described in detail,analyzes the reason why Meng Shilong could be worshipped by the masses in Dali area,the history and present situation of the worship and memories of Meng Shilong in Longkan village.The fifth part introduces the worship culture of the Benzhu in Longkan village,describing the worship space,sacrificial groups and festival activities,also discussing the two Benzhu temples,sacrificial villages,villagers and social groups in Longkan village,and detailly describing and analyzing the Benzhu worship activities and playing Xiang Long in Longkan village.The in-depth research on the history and culture of Nanzhao reflects the ethnic cultural relics of the Benzhu worship.It will help to inherit ethnic culture and enrich the historical and cultural research of Nanzhao.
