The Creation Characteristics And Performance Analysis Of Paul Taffanel’s "Fantaisie Sur Thèmes Du Freischütz"

Claude-Paul Taffanel（1844-1908）was the founder of the French flute school in the nineteenth century.He was a performer,educator,composer and conductor.Respected and made good use of the Boehm flute,Carried forward Baroque and classic works,reformed academic teaching methods,and worked with students to write practical teaching materials for basic flute skills,which were still beneficial to the majority of flute players and enthusiasts today."Fantaisie sur thèmes du Freischütz" is a Fantasia for flute composed by Taffanel in 1876,adapted from Weber’s opera of the same name.The musical theme of the work was taken from the aria melody in the opera.The composer combined the beautiful and broad timbre of the flute with the superb and gorgeous finger skills,which naturally and suitably show its charm as a solo instrument.This work greatly embodies the teaching philosophy and "playing aesthetics" of Taffanel and the French flute school he founded,it is still one of the repertoires of flute recitals today.This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter briefly describes the research significance and content of the work,and makes a certain discussion on the current research status at home and abroad;the second chapter sorts out the composer’s life and the flute development background of his era,and understand the creative meaning of works;Chapter 3 explores the framework of the work from the perspective of musical structure and analyzes the characteristics of creation;Chapter 4 introduces the teaching and performance concepts advocated by Taffanel and the French flute school,and understand its application in works;Chapter 5Combined with the musical situation and school concept in opera,summarize and share the practice and performance experience.
