Research On Chao Buzhi’s Calligraphy

Chao Buzhi not only enjoyed a lofty position in the history of Chinese poetry and literature,but also was a calligraphy master worthy of the name.For a long time,people refer to the Northern Song dynasty calligrapher will only think of Su Shi,Huang Tingjian,Mi Fu,Cai Xiang and other people,and at that time some literati calligraphy is also noteworthy,such as Qin Guan,Zhang Lei,Chen Shidao and so on,are masters of calligraphy.This paper is a case study of Chao Buzhi,a scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty.At first,the paper,starting from Chao Buzhi’s life,positioned Chao Buzhi’s historical background,analyzed Chao Buzhi’s concept of calligraphy and the cultural environment factors that formed the calligraphy features by studying Chao Buzhi’s friends.Secondly,it summarizes the ideological trend of calligraphy in Chao Buzhi’s time,and analyzes Chao Buzhi’s concept of calligraphy under this ideological trend.Thirdly,through the analysis of the characteristics of Chao Buzhi’s calligraphic works and the comparison with the calligraphic style of the calligrapher in the same period,it is concluded that Chao Buzhi’s calligraphic works have similarities with their calligraphic works.Finally,some elements of Chao Buzhi’s calligraphy were used for reference and applied to his own calligraphy creation.
