As one of the basic skills of language learning,reading is an important part of English teaching,and it is also the part where teachers and students spend the most time and energy.However,the teaching efficiency of reading in China’s college English teaching is relatively low due to the outdated reading teaching model and the reduction of college English teaching time.With the deepening reform of the college English curriculum,the College English Curriculum Requirement issued by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in 2020 has put forward new requirements for college students’ English reading competence.It also puts forward a new teaching suggestion for English teachers: the teaching of reading,writing and translating can be carried out in a computer network environment.In order to improve the quality of English reading teaching,this study uses Unipus as a teaching platform and applies the blended teaching model to college English reading teaching,aiming to explore whether BTM helps improve students’ English reading competence(includes reading scores and ability to use reading strategy)and the learning effect of English reading.From the theoretical perspective of BTM,and combining relevant researches,the researcher designs a BTM based on Unipus to guide college English reading teaching.The purpose of this study is to solve three questions: 1)What is the impact of BTM of college English reading based on Unipus on students’ reading scores? 2)Compared with the Control Class,will the Experimental Class use reading strategy more actively? 3)What are the students’ attitudes towards BTM of college English reading based on Unipus ?A total of 84 students are selected as experimental subjects for this study.They are freshman of non-English major in XX University.In Experimental Class(EC),it has 43 students and BTM of college English reading based on Unipus is applied to English reading teaching,while in Control Class(CC),it has 41 students and the traditional teaching model is applied to English reading teaching.The research instruments are English reading test,questionnaires and interview.During the experiment of a semester(15 weeks),the researcher collects data from the questionnaires,interview results and reading tests.After the experiment,the researcher analyzes and describes the data by SPSS.The results indicate that(1)BTM of college English reading based on Unipus is helpful to improve the students’ reading scores.Before the experiment,the reading scores of the two classes are in the same level,and there is no significant differences between EC and CC.After the experiment,the reading scores of both two classes have improved,but EC’s score has improved relatively obvious compared with CC’s.(2)BTM of college English reading based on Unipus improves students’ ability to use reading strategies.Before the experiment,the results of the pre-questionaire show that the students have low ability to use reading strategy.After the experiment,the results of the post-questionaire show that the students have improved their ability to use reading strategies when reading,but the students in EC have improved relatively obvious.(3)The results of the questionnaires and interviews show that the students have positive attitudes towards BTM and believe it is beneficial to their English reading learning.The result of this study shows that BTM helps to improve students’ English reading scores and their ability to use reading strategies.BTM not only provides a new teaching model for college English reading teaching,but also solves some shortcomings of traditional teaching methods and improves the quality of teaching.Moreover,under the guidance of BTM,students’ learning interest and autonomous learning ability have also been improved.Therefore,BTM is suitable for college English reading teaching.
