| With the advancement of the new curriculum reform, middle school English teachers have started to reform their English reading teaching methods. They now pay more attention to cultivating students’ English reading ability. However, there are still many issues, including students’ lack of necessary background knowledge, which leads to their inability to deeply understand the articles, and the lack of diversity in post-reading activities, which are often just simple exercises that do not deepen students’ understanding of the articles.Interactive reading in a blended learning mode,as a new classroom teaching mode and organizational form, provides new ideas and perspectives for further education reform. Its main feature is the online and offline interaction, which is in line with the requirements of the new curriculum reform, and emphasizes the stimulation of students’ interest, the cultivation of autonomous learning ability, and collaborative innovation ability. This article specifically investigates the following two issues:(1)whether interactive reading teaching in a blended learning mode can stimulate middle school students’ interest in English reading more effectively than traditional reading teaching methods;(2)whether interactive reading teaching based on a blended learning mode has a positive impact on middle school students’ English reading, and if so,what aspects are reflected. In this study, the author selected students from two classes with similar average scores from a public school in Harbin,China,as research objects, and conducted a four-month teaching experiment. One class was the experimental group, and the other class was the control group. They respectively received traditional English reading teaching and interactive English reading teaching based on blended learning mode.Data was collected through questionnaire surveys,pre-and post-experimental tests, and interviews, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software.Based on the analysis of the data, the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Compared with traditional reading teaching methods, interactive reading teaching in a blended learning mode can better stimulate middle school students’ interest in English reading;(2)through the analysis of the results of the experimental study of interactive reading teaching based on blended learning mode,it was found that this teaching mode can positively improve middle school students’ English reading level, reading methods, and reading strategies.Compared with other traditional English reading teaching methods, this teaching mode is more likely to promote the improvement of middle school students’ English reading level. In addition,it was found that this teaching mode can positively affect students’ autonomous learning ability and collaborative learning ability. Finally, the feasibility and ease of implementation of implementing interactive English reading teaching based on a blended learning mode were discussed based on the results of this study, which provides reference for future research on blended learning. |
