Verb overlap is of great concern in international Chinese language teaching.As both Chinese and Thai are a branch of Sino-Tibetan language family,both contain the grammatical item of verb overlap,so Thai students are more prone to bias when learning this language point.Moreover,there are few research results on international Chinese language teaching in the verb overlap style.In view of this,this paper combines theoretical research,textbook analysis,acquisition study and teaching practice.Firstly,it discusses the form,syntactic function and grammatical meaning of overlappable verbs in relation to the distribution of overlapping verbs in textbooks and syllabuses.Secondly,the distribution of verb overlap in the two general textbooks is analysed,and the acquisition of this grammatical point by Thai students is investigated by means of a questionnaire,which reveals that they are biased in terms of form,semantic-pragmatic and syntactic rules,and the reasons for the bias are explained accordingly.Finally,based on the findings of the study,pedagogical suggestions are made and a teaching design is developed in the hope of contributing to the research on the teaching of Thai Chinese.The full text is divided into six sections.In the first part,we present the reasons and values of the topic,review the current status of research on verb overlap in Chinese ontology and international Chinese teaching,and point out the theoretical basis,research methods and sources of this thesis.The second part discusses the seven overlapping verb forms in Chinese,AA,A 一A,A 了 A,AAB,ABAB,AABB and AB 了 AB,the six grammatical meanings of short quantity,repeated continuation,try,easy and leisurely,euphemism and description,and the related syntactic functions,in the light of the characteristics of the overlapping verb forms in Thai.The third part presents an exhaustive analysis of Boya Chinese and Chinese course,summarising the writing of the overlapping verb forms in the two textbooks in terms of recurrence rate,grammatical points and practice questions,and pointing out their shortcomings.The fourth section collects the biased corpus through a questionnaire,elaborates on the findings of each question in the questionnaire,and then summarises the types of bias and explores the causes of bias.In the fifth part,the research findings are combined with the teaching suggestions and teaching designs from the perspectives of "textbook,teacher and students",so as to effectively match the theory with the actual teaching.The sixth part of the concluding remarks provides a comprehensive overview of the previous research and identifies the shortcomings of this study.
