| Sports documentary as the combination of sports content and social context not only displays the charm of sports but also undertakes the important task of reflecting social reality and conveying social values.With the emergence of feminist consciousness in China,women have obtained impressive achievements in competitive sports,and sports documentary with female theme has become a new window showcasing female independence in the new era.In today’s society,the studies on sports documentaries with female as the protagonist are scarce compared to those with male as protagonist.This paper will conduct criticism of female themed sports documentary from feminist perspective and specifically analyze how the author’s graduation project,the documentary 《Ring Girls》,consciously applies feminist theory to shape the image of female athletes,and deeply discuss the effect of sports on shaping female self-consciousness.In addition to sorting out the literature and theories,the author firstly analyzes the image of female characters in two representative feminine sports documentaries 《Xing Yao Zheng Tu》 and 《That’s Me》 through case study method,and draws the conclusion that the feminist consciousness in China’s feminine documentaries is increasingly significant and the positive feminist image in sports documentary has a guiding effect on shaping the life view and value of women in the society.In the main context of this paper,the author elaborates the application of feminism in the author’s graduation project,the documentary 《Ring Girls》 through the practice method,concludes the innovation of the work and discusses the positive significance of sports on women.Through the analysis,the author excavates the deep significance of sports on the liberation of women’s body and pursuit of gender equality,proposes that sports documentary should be focused on work creation by advocating correct values from the perspective of social female culture.At the same time,it is necessary to strengthen the research of feminism in sports documentaries,so as to jointly promote the development of Chinese characteristic feminism theories,help sports documentary move towards a wider world. |
