A Report On Simulated Simultaneous Interpretation Of Mars Mission Update: June 2020

Deep space exploration is a long-term strategic goal of China,with Mars exploration being the first step.Compared to the traditional powers,China started late in this regard.Therefore,China needs to understand and learn from these countries’ deep space exploration plans.The interpreting material for this practice is a video entitled Mars Mission Update: June 2020,selected from the You Tube channel‘Martian Colonist’.The video mainly describes the technological development of Space X in commercial aerospace and the future space exploration plans of NASA.The video content is informative and clear,which is helpful to understand the deep space exploration of the United States.Therefore,this practice is of great significance.This practice is a simulated simultaneous interpretation practice under the guidance of the interpretive theory.The focus of the report is to analyze the challenges in this practice,including the lack of professional knowledge,the lack of interpretation content caused by difficulties in interpreting highly professional content while listening,and the challenges caused by the differences between English and Chinese.Generally speaking,the interpretive theory provides a solid theoretical basis for this practice.The report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the task introduction,including the background of the task,introduction to interpreting material,and characteristics and importance of the task.The second chapter clarifies the task process,including pre-task preparation,interpreting process,and post-task summary.The third chapter is the case analysis that introduces the main difficulties encountered in interpreting and corresponding solutions under the interpretive theory.The fourth chapter summarizes this practice,including reflections,deficiencies of the interpretive theory in guiding this practice and suggestions for other interpreters in simultaneous interpretation.The interpreter hopes to improve the capability of interpreting by summarizing the experience of this practice.Meanwhile,the interpreter hopes to provide some references for other interpreters.
