A Report On The E-c Translation Of Food Politics:What Everyone Needs To Know（Excerpts）

With the continuous advancement of the global integration process and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards,more countries have begun to attach importance to food safety.How to construct the food safety system effectively has become one of the important practical problems faced by our country and even many governments.In recent years,with the rapid development of China’s economy,people’s awareness of food safety has gradually increased,and food safety problems have become increasingly prominent.In order to gain experience,it is very important to translate the relevant foreign literature in the field of food safety.This practical translation report is based on Chapter 12 and Chapter13 of Food Politics:What Everyone Needs to Know by Robert Paarlberg,an American scholar of food politics,in order to provide some enlightenment for the construction of food safety system in China.At present,there is an increasing demand for EST translation in China.The translation of texts in the field of food safety is a very important category in EST translation,this paper summarizes the translation methods of texts in the field of food safety,and introduces the Skopos Theory and its three rules.This paper consists of five parts: Chapter One is an introduction,which mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of the translation practice,as well as an overview of the source text;Chapter Two is the theoretical framework,which mainly introduces the skopos theory;Chapter Three is the description of the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the operation in translation and the revision after translation;Chapter Four is a case study,which analyzes the translation methods of terminologies,abbreviations,passive sentences and long difficult sentences from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and expounds the theoretical basis of using different translation methods;Chapter Five analyzes the gains and problems in translation,and gives some suggestions for future translation practice.Through this translation practice,the translator has learned the knowledge in the field of food safety,mastered the translation methods and skills,and improved the translation ability.At the same time,the translator looks forward to popularizing the knowledge of food safety to the public through the translation of relevant literature in the field of food safety,so as to contribute to the development of food safety in China.
