Among the books about the interpretations of the steles.Nearly none of them has no errors. On one hand, this reflects the difficulty of interpreting the inscriptions on the steles. On the other hand,it shows that there is still a lot of work to be done in the interpretation and arrangement of the steles. The interpretation of epigraphs of religion statues(造像记)has the same situation. However,if we try to correct all the works,it would take a long time, which is not realistic, and it is not necessary to carry out such repetitive work. Therefore,it is an economical and effective way to select a high quality work and improve it.Collation and Annotation of Inscriptions in the Han,Wei and Six Dynasties is such a book.Among the 1417 Tablets with Topographs, there are more than 400 religious statuettes, accounting for nearly 30%.Although all the stone carvings of this period have not been collected, the selection is scientific, which basically includes the basic features of religious stone carvings of this period. It contains a large number of Buddhist statues,as well as a collection of Taoist and Buddhist Taoist statues. It contains not only a small number of statues of the Southern Dynasties, but also a large number of statues of the Northern Dynasties. For each of the recorded stone carvings, the "Notes" gives a verbatim record and prudent notes,in chronological order, according to the order of plates, records, and notes, which is convenient for readers to study and research. On the basis of respecting the original lettering, the recorded text also pays attention to learning from previous research results.Annotations have rich results and refined insights in the study of common characters, the interpretation of residual characters, the analysis of word meanings, and the correction of the predecessors’ mistakes. And pay attention to the combination of documents and unearthed documents from the same period.Throughout the book,we can find that the content of the "School Note" covers all aspects of the study of the language and characters of the portraiture, which can be said to be the master of the organization and study of the material of the portraiture in this period. But as the length of the book is huge,it is inevitable that there are some problems that could not be resolved before publication. Some failed to notice the achievements of the predecessors. Some of the more explicit topographies were not published until after the books were published.Follow-up scholars need to continue the research. At present, the revision and supplement of this batch of materials is scattered in papers and theses. There is a certain complement to the correct interpretation of these materials. However, the understanding of some words is still controversial, and there are still many problems left to be solved. For the authenticity of the stone rubbings, though every piece of them had been carefully identified before the publication of the book. There are still some counterfeit ones in the book. Some of them have already been proved fake by predecessors,it’s a pity that Collation and Annotation of Inscriptions in the Han,Wei and Six Dynasties didn’t notice their findings. Some have been proved to be counterfeit by scholars after the publication of the book. And there is one rubbing for the thirteenth year of the Western Wei Dynasty,Inscriptions of Du Luqing and others, which has not been suspected before, and is demonstrate counterfeit in this article at the first time. This study selects the epigraphs of religion statues(造像记)in Collation and Annotation of Inscriptions in the Han,Wei and Six Dynasties as research material. On the basis of the research of Mr.Mao Yuanming, the author tries to conduct a proofreading and revision of the text, find the authenticity of the rubbings, and contemplate the titles of the inscriptions. The main content of the article is concentrated on these three aspects, which are discussed in the second, third and fourth chapters. The second chapter contains the results of proofreading and revision in 47 epigraphs of religion statues(造像记).And made a monographic study on three special glyphs. The third chapter contains the arrangement and research of 11 counterfeit or suspected religion statue rubbings. In the fourth chapter, the author summarized 63 cases of the inconsistency between the book and the catalogue. On this basis, proposed the suggestions for the naming rules of epigraphs of religion statues(造像记).
