There are nearly five thousand pieces of rubbings from the Han Dynasty to the Republic of China which collected by the Institute of Humanities and Human Science in Kyoto University,Japan.These comprehensively reflects the the historical features of ancient Chinese stone carvings.In particular,there are 844 pieces of the epigraphs of religion statues,the figures who built the the epigraphs of religion statues involve all levels of society,so the materials are abundant and cover a wide range.Compared with the handed down literature need through the filtration and transmition of scholars,the stone carvings of rubbings are more correct and more reliable,because it's difficult to change after the engravings finished.Therefor it is an significant corpus for the research on Chinese history with great value of philology,character,lexicology.The study based on the principal materials about rubbings of statues in the Collection of Rubbings for All Dynasties in China of Kyoto University,launching a thorough research by making a comprehensive investigation and collection of characters and words for these materials.In order to provide some useful experiences and reference for collating the literature and related research by the overseas institutions who collected the Chinese stone inscription.Besides,providing strongly support to the study of the Chinese lexicology and the history of Chinese vocabulary and correlative researches.At the same time,giving some valuable information and reference for the compilation and revision of large-scale Chinese dictionariesIt's can be divided into six parts:The first part is a introduction,which concrete analysis the origination and naming of epigraphs of religion statues,define the scope of material selection.Furthermore briefly explaining the reasons for choosing the topic,the current situation of the study,the significance of the research,and the materials as well as the method of this paper.Chapter one is the arrangement and interpretation for the epigraphs of religion statues.Making a textual research and a scientific arrangement about the epigraphs of religion statues in the Collection of Rubbings for All Dynasties in China of Kyoto University.Making an interpretation for the mis-interpreted and uninterpreted Chinese characters in this book,with the aim of establishing firm foundation to the special study on words in the Collection of Rubbings for All Dynasties in China of Kyoto University.Chapter two is the special study on words of epigraphs of religion statues in the Collection of Rubbings for All Dynasties in China of Kyoto University.we divided the words into eight types and did an analysis for the special issue of some characteristic words in epigraphs of religion statues from semantic field,in order to provide reference for the related research of the development history of Chinese vocabulary.Chapter three is a comparison study on the Southern and Northern Dynasties' s epigraphs and Sui and Tang Dynasties' s epigraphs.through compared the structure,content and words,to find out inheritance and development for more comprehensive understanding in epigraphs of religion statues.Chapter four is the value of the pigraphs of religion statues' words in the Collection of Rubbings for All Dynasties in China of Kyoto University for the compilation of dictionaries.Taking advantage of the the pigraphs of religion statues' words to Proposing amendments for the insufficiencies of the Grand Chinese Characters Dictionary in lexical entry,interpretation,citation,and discussing the value of the words in editing the dictionary.Finally,the epilogue makes a simple summary of the regularity and feature mainly focouse on the arrangement and interpretation for the epigraphs of religion statues.And the comparison study on structure,content and words.as well as in editing the dictionary.
