Reading,especially graded reading,is very important in second language acquisition.But at present,there are very few graded Chinese books for second language learners published in our country,and even fewer researches on these graded books.This research is based on the current situation of the publication of graded Chinese readers in China and the relevant theories on the difficulty of corpus.Through quantitative research on the series of "Good Friends:Graded Chinese Readers"(adult version),the research examines the level of characters,words,sentences and chapters.It provides data materials and relevant suggestions for the compilation of graded reading materials for Chinese as a second language.The research results show that the difficulty change rule of "Good Friends:Chinese Graded Readers"(adult version)conforms to the characteristics of the graded books.At the level of Chinese characters,from the point of view of the number of characters and the number of characters,as the reading level increases,the number of characters and the number of characters increases in number,and the number of characters shows obvious regular changes.From the perspective of the distribution of Chinese characters,as the reading level increases,the number of A-level.B-level,and C-level characters in the reading shows an increasing trend,but the proportion of A-level characters decreases with the increase of the reading level trend.From the measurement results of Chinese character difficulty,as the reading level increases,the difficulty of Chinese characters increases at a uniform rate,but there are obvious differences in the difficulty of Chinese characters within the fifth-level readings.At the vocabulary level,the number of words gradually increases with the level of readings from Grades 1 to 5,and the number of words shows a gradual upward trend.In terms of vocabulary distribution,the number of A-level words in reading materials is the largest,followed by super-class words.As the level of reading materials increases.the number of words of A-level,super-class,B-level,C-level and D-level vocabulary shows an increasing trend.With the increase of reading level,the proportion of first-level vocabulary decreased,and the third to sixth-level vocabulary showed a reverse trend.In terms of vocabulary difficulty results,with the increase of the reading level,there is an increasing trend.The vocabulary difficulty of the first-level reading is the lowest,and the sixth-level b reading is the most difficult.At the sentence level,the average sentence length gradually becomes longer as the level increases,and there are differences in sentence length within the same-level readings,showing difficulty levels.At the chapter level,as the reading level increases,the length of a single article at each level also increases.Generally speaking,the readings are short,less than 500 words,and the readings for grades 1 to 5 are all ultra-short readings.In terms of themes and genres,there are many types of cultural life,less politics,economics,nature,history,and science and technology,more narrative texts,and less applied texts,and the distribution is uneven.In view of the inconsistencies in the internal difficulty of some readings,some of the numerical values are too large,the readings are unreasonable in the grading and cohesion of related factors,and the subject matter and genre are single,this study proposes to pay attention to the difficulty of readings at the same level and increase the number of volumes.,control the proportion of super-class words,and enrich the suggestions for the selection of reading materials.
