Leveled English reading has nearly one hundred years history,and leveled Chinese reading has only received attention in recent years.Graded reading combines the characteristics of Chinese,children’s cognitive level,and points of interest.It provides children with appropriate gradient difficulty standards and corresponding reading materials,which can protect children’s reading interest and improve reading level.Therefore,how to choose the reading materials that suitable for children’s Chinese level has become a problem that schools,teachers,parents,even publishing departments and libraries care about but have not solved.The issues worthy of our attention is that most of the Chinese children’s books on the Chinese book market are based on age or grade.There is no grading standard,and there are no children’s grading books based on difficulty.Another issue that deserves attention is that international Chinese language teaching is developing well,and more and more overseas Chinese and their children have joined the Chinese language learning team.Through investigation,we learned that overseas Chinese children have learned Chinese,but there is no practical language environment,especially the lack of reading and writing materials.Chinese graded reading materials are the key to improving the literacy and reading level of overseas Chinese children.Based on the two problems of lack of children’s books with "difficulty level" as the standard and no graded books for overseas Chinese children on the market,this article attempts to prepare a sample of children’s books to help those children to learn Chinese quickly.The preparation of readings mainly involves the choice of words,the design of sentence length,the type of topics,and so on.In the process of editing texts,how to choose characters and words are the basis.In order to accurately find the words at the child stage,we have built a corpus of children’s reading materials,using word frequency as an important reference,and manual intervention is added and filtered to form a vocabulary.The research methods in this paper mainly include questionnaire survey method and quantitative analysis and statistical method.The questionnaire is divided into two parts: pre-test and post-test.First,we investigated the ethnic Chinese language learning background,their Chinese level and needs of overseas Chinese children,and the results showed that the current Chinese teaching is far from meeting their requirements.After the design of the reading materials was completed,we tested the parents of Chinese children to check whether the writing concept and difficulty of the reading materials met their needs.The last step is a statistical analysis of the survey results,and based on the results,help us improve the text.
