| This thesis is a translation practice report.The selected source text belongs to the category of culture.The source text is selected from a native American magazine Religious Studies.This text consists of six parts.The author of the source text mainly expounds the history,challenges and future prospects of Islam in Russia.The source text is long,rich in connotation,and involves a lot of professional terms and long and difficult sentences,which is also the focus and difficulty of this translation practice.This thesis selects representative example sentences.Through analysis of these sentences,the thesis elaborates the guiding role of three principles of Skopos theory in this translation practice,summarizes the translation methods the author used,and aims to improve the author’s translation ability,and hope to be able to provide inspiration for the translation of related texts.From the perspective of Skopos theory,this practice report mainly expounds the leading role of Skopos theory in the translation process by case analysis.The main point of Skopos theory is that translators select proper translation strategies or methods based on specific translation purposes.It can be summarized into Skopos rule,coherence rule,and the fidelity rule.While translating,the translator should follow the Skopos rule at first,that is,give priority to the realization of the purpose of the translation,and then follow the coherence rule which means to ensure the coherence,readability and acceptability of the translation.In addition,the translator should follow the rule of fidelity,that is,be loyal to the content of the source text and the author’s intention,and ensure that the content of the source text is not modified or deleted at translators’ will.Starting from the perspective of Skopos theory and combining the translation practice,the author applies certain methods or strategies in case analysis to exactly deliver the information of the source text,and expect this work could serve as a reference for other translators. |
