A Report On The Translation Project Of "Professional Original Video Of Industrial Robot" Under The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

In the 1970 s,the skopos theory began to rise in Germany,and the term skopos originated from Greek.The German scholar H.J.Vermeer first proposed the skopos theory.In the theoretical framework,the target readers has become her primary consideration.That is,in the dynamic process of the entire translation,both the translation strategy and the choice of style should be subject to the purpose of communication.Under the guidance of the supervisor,I participate in the translation project of “Professional Original Video of Industrial Robot” and translated 8 videos.The translated text totaled nearly 10,000 words.This project spans many fields such as military and civil use.It mainly focuses on underwater robots,3D printing and other technologies.The text is highly logical and has many professional sentences and terms.Many of them are very long.The author found in the process of translation that these scientific and technical texts are not suitable for literal translations,and what’s more,the target video of this project is without subtitles,which also puts forward certain requirements for the author’s capability of listening and translation.Understanding the logical intrinsic and principles behind it,and then transfer it to the target language can help convey the information to the readers.In this report,the author tries to divide the translation report into four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task.It briefly introduces the relevant background of the translation task,the source of the target text,and the content of this translation task.The meaning of this paper is also elaborated.The second part mainly explains the theoretical principles and pre-translation preparations that this study follows.The third part analyzes six selected translation strategies from the perspectives of vocabulary and sentence.The fourth part is a summary of the translation practice.Therefore,the author tries to study the translation practice from the perspective of skopos theory,hoping to help the further study on this topic.
