| This report chooses Chapter 15 and 19 of the thriller How to Disappear as the translation corpus and analyzes them with the aim of studying novel translation methods and accumulating experience for the reporter’s translation practice in the future.In this report,Hans Vermeer’s Skopos Theory is chosen to guide the practice.The Skopos Theory advocates three principles,namely,the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.Combined with the Skopos Theory,the reporter analyzes the translation difficulties encountered in the course of practice and seeks out appropriate translation strategies based on these three rules.This report analyzes the specific cases and gives solutions mainly at the level of vocabulary,sentence and discourse.It is difficult to clarify the proper interpretation of the original vocabulary;in this regard,the reporter selects the meaning of the words in the context,converts the word nature and appropriately derives the meaning of the words;the translation of sentences mainly includes two difficulties,namely,the translation of passive sentences and complicated sentences;in this regard,the reporter transforms passive sentences into active sentences and readjusts the order and structure to make the translation clearer;the translation of discourse mainly includes two difficulties,namely cohesion and coherence,in this regard,the reporter adds more connecting words to clarify the semanteme and make the translation orderly.Through this practice,the reporter accumulates some translation skills,which the reporter hopes can be helpful for future translation work. |
