Study On C/E Translation Of Scenic-Spot Introduction Based On English Versions Of The Four Most Famous Gardens Of China

With the continuous prosperity of China’s foreign tourism industry,the English translation of tourism materials has become the key factors to further publicize China and promote the development of China’s tourism.However,the current status of tourism translation is that its quality varies greatly,which arouses people’s misgivings.Therefore,in order to further improve the tourism translation,it is increasingly indispensable and urgent to conduct more systematic and in-depth research on the translation of tourism materials.Studying translation in a broader cultural context,Functionalist Translation Theory plays a constructive role in translation.As one of its core branches,Skopostheorie ranks in the effective theories to furnish the guidance for practical translation which includes tourism translation.Despite the accomplishment that the theory has made from the macro perspective,its theoretical construction is relatively weak at the meso-level,where there are some limitations in the theoretical interpretation of specific translation purposes,translation norms,translation strategies and translators’ subjectivity.Therefore,although domestic and foreign researches on translation Skopostheorie are endless,there is a lack of research from the meso-level,which cannot satisfy the full guidance of translation practice in the new era.To satisfy the demand of target readers in the new era and promote cultural exchange and communication,this dissertation takes the translated texts of the introduction of the Four Most Famous Gardens of China with typical characteristics as an example to make a further study on tourism translation by illustrating the introduction of the four scenic spots from the perspective of Skopostheorie at the meso-level.For one thing,it attempts to solve that how to select the translation object and how to realize the ideal translation,so as to upgrade the quality of tourism translation.For another,it manages to further improve the application of Skopostheorie in the translation of tourism materials by making up for the deficiencies in its study on the construction theory at the meso-level,which is significant to promote the application of Skopostheorie to specific translation practice and provide further corresponding suggestions on the English translation of tourism materials.
