Heading the list of Chinese historical and ancient cities, Xi'an has become a famous international tourism city for its large number of cultural relics as well as abundant of tourism resources. With the development of tourism industry, the C-E translation of the scenic spot introduction has showed its increasingly importance. As the carrier of the cultural dissemination, the C-E translation version of scenic spot introduction should fully demonstrate its cultural connotations so as to promote the better understanding of history and culture of Xi'an, and in turn, open the window of foreign exchange of China. However, the translators often turn to ignore the cultural connotations of the tourism material in the course of its translation, which directly results in the failure of effective cultural dissemination. With the analysis of C-E translation versions of scenic spot introduction in Xi'an, this dissertation attempts to probe into the C-E translation strategies of cultural connotations of tourism text. This article stresses that the translation of tourism text should seek the functional equivalence to ensure the informative and directive features of tourism text in accordance with Nida's dynamic equivalence theory. On the basis of the elaboration of foreignization translation device, the translation of tourism text should preserve the source language as well as the original cultural characteristics to present the target readers the exotic culture, and in turn, to promote and develop the rich Chinese cultural connotations. By means of conducting an empirical study of the C-E translation of scenic spot introductions in Xi'an, this thesis puts forward four translation strategies of tourism text, namely, transliteration plus literal translation with explanation; analog plus descriptions; addition of the significant cultural information as well as deletion of the long-winded information, which are exemplified to be feasible to disseminate the cultural information in tourism spot introduction.
