Daniel Richter,a representative of German neo-figurative easel painting,has a very personal style and artistic language.His paintings mostly focus on social news,historical events and other subjects,and use historical events as metaphors for today’s politics.At present,domestic and foreign research literature on Daniel Richter mainly focuses on the analysis of his fantastic painting colors,the lines of drawing figures and the alienated shapes of images.This paper aims to take the "fluidity" of Daniel Richter’s images as an entry point to further analyze the language of his images.As one of the representative figures of German contemporary easel painting,Daniel Richter’s images give a "flow" character both from the visual point of view and from the image itself.It is this sense of movement,both visually and cognitively,that he embodies in his paintings,which has allowed him to have his own space in today’s art market,which is tilted towards installation and video works,and the canvas has become his medium to connect with the world,whether it is the current political form or historical events,all of which are transformed into frenzied or melancholic phantoms in the psychedelic world under his brush.The phantom is everywhere.After sorting out the literature,this paper decides to adopt the literature collection method as well as the observation method,and divides the article into four chapters.The first chapter mainly elaborated the research goal and the significance,the domestic and foreign research present situation as well as the research method and the mentality.The second chapter is a summary of Daniel Richter’s works,including the influence of the German background at that time on the subject matter and content of Daniel Richter’s works,as well as Daniel Richter’s three stages of creation,that is,from the abstract to the concrete narrative,and then to break away from the narrative painting.The third chapter mainly explains the characteristics of the fluidity in Daniel ’ s paintings.This chapter will discuss from two aspects,one is the liquid character modeling in his paintings,the other is his extremely personal style of wandering color,and enumerates separately his representative work to carry on the demonstration.The fourth chapter further discusses the flowing world in Daniel Richter’s eyes,also divided into two aspects,respectively,the extensive use of image processing techniques in his pictures,so that his pictures have a kind of neurotic vigilance and paranoia,and the flow and collision between reason and irrationality in his pictures,which makes the emotions of the pictures alternate between reason and sensibility.The final chapter will elaborate on Daniel Richter’s inspiration and reference to me,as well as the influence of his artistic style and language on my own creation.
