A Research On Culture Shock Phenomenon Of Indonesian Students In Tianjin

In recent years,China’s economy and all aspects of construction are relatively developed,therefore the number of overseas students in China has increased.This situation also aroused the enthusiasm of Indonesian students to study in China.Although Indonesia and China belong to Asian countries,they are quite different in geography,climate and culture.There will be friction and conflict among different cultural groups in their mutual communication and cooperation,which is called cultural shock.Similarly,when Indonesian students enter China,they often feel confused about their identity in the face of unfamiliar environment,and are unable to adapt to the cultural environment.However,there are different situations in each region of China,which make the influencing factors of cultural shock to the overseas students are different.Therefore,the suggestions and the way to deal cultural shock also have their own particularities and pertinences.As the city of China where the author study in is Tianjin,the author familiar with the customs,human feelings and education of Tianjin,and has a close relationship with another Indonesian students who study in various universities in Tianjin.Because of these conditions,the author decided to take Indonesian students in Tianjin as the research object.This thesis uses the methods of literature research,questionnaire survey,analysis and statistics then interview for this research.The thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter are the introduction,which introduces the research background and significance,research status at China and overseas,research ideas and methods The second chapter isthe definition of cultural shock concept and its influencing factors research.The third chapter isthe design of questionnaires,interview and survey results overview.The fourth chapter are the influencing factors analysis of cultural shock of Indonesian students in Tianjin,makes a detailed exploration to the causes of culture shock of Indonesian students in Tianjin from the external objective factors and internal subjective factors.The fifth chapter is the countermeasures for Indonesian students in Tianjin to face cultural shock.The sixth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the research results of cultural shock phenomenon of the Indonesian students in Tianjin and puts forward the inadequacy of this research.This thesis analyzes the causes of cultural shock of Indonesian students through questionnaire and in-depth interviews with students of different schools and education types.In the end of this thesis,there are forward suggestions and countermeasures to prevent and alleviate cultural shock from two aspects: the cultivation of their own quality and the countermeasures of educational institutions.This is the research results and innovation of this paper,hope this research can enrich the theory on cultural shock of foreign students in Tianjin and practically helps Indonesian students to study in Tianjin.
