In order to know the current situation of culture shock of volunteer TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) teachers when being sent abroad, the author conducted a survey about Chinese teachers from Jinan university and observed, analyzed and discuss ed the phenomenon of culture shock of teachers from Jinan university. In the first part, t his paper introduces the current situation of sending Chinese teachers abroad and the con ception of inter-culture communication and culture shock, then, uses questionnaire and int erviews to study the situation of inter-culture communication and culture shock.The research resents that majority of teachers have culture shock reflecting in discomfort physically and mentally. However, the severity level of their culture shock is not very high and it has not led to very bad influences. According to the interviews, the examples of teachers from Jinan university are very typical and normal. Therefore the examples can be used to explain and study the phenomenon of inter-culture communication.Besides, this paper detailedly analyses the subjective and objective causes of culture shock and some inter-culture problems and their causes by the questionnaire data and interview examples.At last, in order to reduce the influence of culture shock and help the volunteer teachers to have a more smoothly life abroad, the author proposed some related suggestions based on the findings.
