Based on the risk management theory put forward by Anthony Pym,this report endeavors to present a case analysis to the translation project of RUSAL Sustainability Report 2019.Intending to provide practical guidance for future translation activities and enhance risk management awareness during translation, this report aims to analyze the risk management process in terms of credibility risk, uncertainty risk, and communicative risk. The risk management process consists of three steps: risk identification and analysis before translation, risk treatment during translation, and risk review and summary after translation.According to the findings at the pre-translation stage, three main text features are summarized, namely the frequent use of terms, proper nouns, and abbreviations;a majority of declarative sentences in the passive voice;and the communication of information.Given those features, different strategies are adopted for different risks. As for credibility risks, more attention is paid to the treatment of such details as the translation of abbreviations,datum/date units, and the consistency of language style. The uncertainty risks at lexical level are transferred by referring to parallel texts and reduced by comparing the risk level of different translations, while the ones at syntactic level are reduced by applying different strategies according to the sentence structure and contents, such as order-changing translation and splitting translation.Concerning communicative risks, much attention is attached to the translation of passive sentences, the transformation of nouns, and the presentation of tenses, enabling the translation to conform to the expressive pattern of the target language, thus achieving the text’s informative function.
