With the development of economy,trade,science and technology,English occupies a prominent position in the development strategy of basic education in various countries.As one of the four basic skills of English,reading is an important means to obtain information and knowledge.However,the College Examination results show that the reading ability of Senior high school students who don’t do well in English were poor.According to questionnaire,senior high school students showed the lack of interest in English reading and English reading class.As a tool to represent knowledge,mind map has been successfully applied in some subjects.The study is based on the schema theory and constructivism,in order to explore the influence of mind map on students’ interest and reading scores,the author selected two parallel art classes,a total of 116 students as experimental subjects.Class 13 is the experimental class and class 14 is the control class.The study,applying mind mapping to the experimental class,lasted 20 weeks.It adopted test,and questionnaire as tools to test effectiveness of mind mapping in senior high school English reading class,to solve the following questions:(1)Can the application of mind mapping effectively improve students’ reading interest?(2)Does the application of mind mapping influence students’ reading scores?Through analyzing the data,the author drew the following conclusions:(1)The application of mind map in teaching of English reading can stimulate students’ interest in reading and improve students’ participation in English class.(2)With the help of mind maps,students’ reading scores could be improved.
