Cultural teaching materials are of great significance in second language teaching.It is not only a tool for spreading Chinese culture,but also determines the direction of cultural teaching.The quality of Cultural materials directly affects the effect of cultural teaching.With the continuous development of Chinese as a foreign language,teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language have been continuously enriched and improved in quantity and variety.However,the proportion of Chinese cultural textbooks a is still very small,and the current ones have problems such as uneven compilation quality.Good cultural teaching materials can make teachers use them well,and can also enable students to have more accurate,objective and in-depth understanding of Chinese culture.The study of English as a second language teaching started early in foreign countries,and has learned from the excellent research results of many countries in related fields.The study of cultural textbooks has entered a relatively mature stage,and gradually improved and formed a system.The comparative analysis of Chinese and English textbooks can provide a new research perspective for the compilation of foreign Chinese cultural textbooks.This research is based on predecessors’ research results and related theories on the compilation of textbooks for Chinese as a foreign language.By consulting a large number of books,journals and documents,I analyzed,organized and combined the relevant compilation theories.Writing principles,cross-cultural communication and other theoretical knowledge,using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,starting from the comparative analysis of English and Chinese textbooks,using "Common knowledge about Chinese Culture "(2007)and the fourth edition of "American ways"(2019),from the basic situation of the textbook,the structure,cultural content orientation,exercise design,textbook compilation principles,etc.,conduct a specific comparative analysis,and examine the specific similarities and differences in the two textbooks from a micro perspective.Through comparison,it is found that the compilation of the two cultural textbooks has their own advantages,and there are also areas for improvement."Common knowledge about Chinese Culture " has problems such as lack of clear objects,the textbook style is too simple,"lay more stress on the past than on the present",and less introduction of deep culture part,ect.These problems are universal in the current Chinese cultural textbooks for foreign learners.I also found several good aspects that can learn from of " American ways ",including the setting of teaching objects,the style of teaching materials,the selection of cultural content,and the design of exercises.Finally,through a comprehensive analysis of the two cultural textbooks,relevant suggestions are put forward in response to the problems in the compilation of Chinese cultural textbooks for foreigners:the compilation of cultural textbooks should focus more on communicative culture;should improve its pertinence;should be advanced with the times and focus on Mainstream culture,and the proportion of ancient culture should be reduced;strive to combine cultural knowledge and language skills;integrate modern educational technology with relevant electronic materials;the writers should increase the awareness of cross-cultural communication;the content of cultural textbooks should be compiled with more emphasis on practicality and interesting,ect.Hope to provide a reference for the compilation of cultural teaching materials,to develop Chinese teaching as a foreign language in the future. |
