The Narrative Study Of Peeping And Eavesdropping In Popular Novels In Ming And Qing Dynasties

Snooping includes peeping and eavesdropping,that is,one party intentionally or unintentionally peeks or eavesdrops on the other party’s actions,expressions,language and sounds.It reveals the hidden behavior and psychology of human beings,and is closely related to the themes of human nature and human desire,and shows the unspeakable survival dilemma of human beings.Although peeping has existed in literary works for a long time,it has been popular in the world by novelists in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.It frequently appears in the popular novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties,and undertakes an important narrative mission,and becomes an indispensable plot unit.Therefore,this paper takes the peeping narrative in the popular novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties as the research object,classifies the plot types of peeping,analyzes the Narrative Significance of peeping narrative,excavates the aesthetic connotation of peeping narrative,and deeply explains the cultural connotation of peeping narrative.The introduction introduces the origin and significance of this topic,the origin of peeping narrative,the research methods,basic ideas and main innovations of this topic.The main body consists of four chapters:The first chapter is the classification of peeping narrative in Ming and Qing popular novels.In the face of a large number of popular novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,only by sorting out and classifying the peeping plots can we grasp and recognize the peeping narration in the popular novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties as a whole.According to whether the listener intends to listen or not,this paper divides the listening in popular novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties into two categories: intentional listening and unintentional listening.According to the detailed and brief narration,it can be divided into detailed narration and brief narration.The second chapter mainly analyzes the narratological significance of peeping narrative from the perspective of narratology.First of all,peeping,as a limited perspective,is limited by the characters’ senses and the limited information they can obtain,which will lead to a blank narrative,which can cause suspense and arouse readers’ interest in reading.Peeping has the meaning of "stealthy",and the specific content it perceives is presented by the eyes or ears of the listener,which greatly increases the authenticity of the narrative.Peeping perspective also provides a very natural way of perspective flow,which enables the author to switch freely between omniscient perspective and limited perspective.Secondly,peeping plays an important role in the development of plot.It can provide an opportunity for the characters to meet,become the starting point of causality,and generate new plots.It can also accelerate the development of the plot and even make the plot turn suddenly when the plot develops slowly or even stagnates.Although some peeping plots did not have a very obvious impact on the plot at that time,they predicted the development of the subsequent plots.Thirdly,peeping is conducive to shaping the characters.The description of the characters’ appearance from the perspective of peeping has its special role.The author uses peeping to trigger the psychological activities that the characters are not easy or inconvenient to narrate in other plots,and shows the characters’ personality through different aspects.The third chapter mainly discusses the aesthetic connotation of peeping narrative.The contradiction between the characters’ expectation and reality,the contrast between the characters’ words and deeds and their identity form a dramatic effect,which causes narrative tension in the text.From the perspective of narrative space,peeping makes private space and public space transform each other,it erodes the privacy and dignity of private space,makes private space become public space,and also shows the overflow of public space lust.Peeping and listening can not only make daily space sink into sensual space,but also make it rise into poetic space.In terms of atmosphere construction,due to the different subjects of peeping and the types of novel themes,peeping can create different atmosphere,such as dark and horrible,warm,relaxed and funny,poetic and romantic.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the cultural meaning of the narration in the popular novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties.The listening and hearing is deeply rooted in the human nature with its secret tentacle,and the ugliness of human nature also projects the beauty of human nature.It restores the most real "self" behind "ideal self" and "public self",and constructs a real and full human world.As a kind of breaking prohibition,listening can satisfy people’s desire on one hand and some punishment on the other hand.Some people’s fate in the listening and the scene of the author’s detailed description of the voyeurism are always alerting the world and giving a sound of alarming.
