| With the development of China’s economy, the "Chinese hot" prevails. As of2020,541 Confucius Institutes and 1,170 Confucius Classrooms have been established in 162 countries during the world.Among them,Colombia has 3 Confucius Institutes. From July 2019 to June 2021,the author was a volunteer Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute at the University of Andes in Colombia. This article attempts to use the questionnaire survey method and interview method to study the quality of international Chinese teachers in two Confucius Institutes in Bogotá,Colombia, based on the new "International Chinese Teacher Standards" issued by Hanban. The research results show that the international Chinese teachers in the two Confucius Institutes in Bogotá,Colombia,in 2020 are a very young team, and they are mainly composed of women. The teachers are mainly composed of Chinese living in the local area or local teachers, supplemented by Chinese teachers sent by Hanban.Basically, all teachers have a bachelor’s degree or above, their professional counterparts are good, and their language skills can meet the needs of the job,but they are slightly lacking in teaching experiences and scientific research.Secondly, most teachers are able to adjust teaching flexibly.Classroom practice is slightly better than theoretical knowledge, but some teachers lack the awareness of after-class reflection.Thirdly, almost all teachers are familiar with Chinese culture,Chinese national conditions and social hot spots, and can tell Chinese stories well in appropriate ways. Finally,Chinese teachers in Bogotá have high professional ethics and can adapt themselves to the local life. The author puts forward relevant suggestions from five aspects: national investment, selection and training of Hanban, the cultivation of international Chinese teachers by universities,Confucius Institutes and teachers themselves. The author hopes to contribute to the improvement of teachers’ own quality. The author hopes this survey has a certain role for Hanban in the selection and training of international Chinese teachers and the construction of Confucius Institutes. The author also hopes to provide some suggestions for the development of the major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in domestic universities and the development of Confucius Institutes in Colombia. |
