The period of the Republic of China was an important historical stage for the development of modern Chinese trademark design from imported products to localization.The Republic of China trademark design as a part of commercial art,its visual style change reflects the development of social visual culture in this period.It is not difficult to find from the visual elements of trademarks in the Republic of China that the extensive use of traditional symbols in trademarks and the redesign of traditional symbols have become the development trend of trademark design in this period.This paper mainly studies the application of traditional symbols in trademarks of the Republic of China from the perspective of traditional symbols,explores the visual cultural characteristics behind trademarks of the Republic of China,and enriches the history and cultural pedigree of visual culture in the Republic of China.This paper mainly studies the application of traditional symbols in trademark design in the Republic of China from five parts.Firstly,the first part gives an overview of the trademark and traditional symbols of the Republic of China,defines time and concepts,and then elaborates the historical background of the application of traditional symbols in the trademark of the Republic of China.The economic expansion of Western capitalism,the establishment of trademark laws and regulations,the development of national industry and commerce,and the rise of the national goods movement are the reasons for the wide application of traditional symbols.The second part summarizes and combs the common types of traditional symbols in the trademark of the Republic of China combined with trademark cases,and analyzes the cultural implication of the auspicious and complete,harmonious and unified trademark given by these traditional symbols.The third part studies the visual application of traditional symbols in the trademark of the Republic of China,including the diversified interpretation of traditional symbols,the integration of China and the West and the exploration of three artistic forms of modern reconstruction,and the concrete analysis of the realistic and abstract styles.The fourth part mainly discusses the significance of the application of traditional symbols in the trademark of the Republic of China for brand building,from the brand function value,national cultural value and modern application value three angles are analyzed and summarized.The fifth part is the design practice part,select an old brand in the period of the Republic of China,from the perspective of combining traditional symbols and modern design language to upgrade the brand visual image design.The visual application and cultural characteristics of traditional symbols in the trademarks of the Republic of China analyzed in the previous chapters are applied to design practice.Through the study of the use of traditional symbols in the trademark of the Republic of China,this paper gradually peeps at the development process of social culture at that time,interprets the popular culture and social aesthetic taste,finds its own cultural orientation,broadens our ideas for today ’ s trademark design,and provides a creative source with national characteristics.Continuously innovate and improve the expression of localization in modern trademark design.
