| Issues that are related to health insurance are the major ones that the whole world focuses on.And since Chinese health insurance policies are consistently improved,the needs for the translation of related foreign texts keep rising.This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of The Regulatory Failure to Define Essential Health Benefits,which is an academic paper selected from the American Journal of Law & Medicine.The text discusses how the U.S.government has regulated the insurance market in the nine years since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act(ACA),and how insurance companies have maximized their benefits under the background of the ACA.In addition,it discusses the essential health benefits in the ACA from three examples,points out the current situation and existing problems of the implementation of the Act,and puts forward some suggestions for improvement.The source text has 15,192 words,and was translated by the author of the report independently.In this report,the translation task and its significance are introduced first.Then the translation process is described including pre-translating,translating,revising and final polishing.In addition,the guiding theories text typology and communicative translation are introduced.Case analysis is the focus of the report,in this part,some examples are used to show how the translation is guided by communicative translation and how the problems in translation are solved.In the conclusion,the translator’s understanding of doing a good translation job is summarized.Unsolved problems and limitations are summarized as well.It is hoped that this report provides some reference for the translation of similar texts. |
