| Reading ability is an important method for learners to communicate and obtain information,which affects the formation and development of students’ comprehensive quality.In English learning,some senior high school students lack interest and confidence in English reading,and most of them do not have enough extracurricular reading.In view of this situation,an effective English reading teaching model is urgently needed to improve the current situation of senior high school students’ English reading learning.The 5E teaching model is a teaching procedure based on the constructivism theory of the American Society of Biology.It has attracted wide attention in China’s basic education and is an important teaching mode to realize independent and cooperative inquiry.It mainly carries out reading teaching through five teaching steps: engagement,exploration explanation,elaboration and evaluation.Based on cognitive learning theory,constructivism theory and pragmatic education theory,this thesis attempts to improve the current situation of senior high school students’ English reading learning through the 5E teaching model in the teaching of senior high school English reading.In this study,two classes of students and three English teachers in the second year of senior high school in Jimei Middle School in Xiamen were selected as the research objects,and the application of 5E teaching model in English reading teaching in senior high school was explored by combining quantitative and qualitative research methods(questionnaire survey,interview and educational experiment).At the same time,the teaching design is carried out by taking the reading discourse of unit 1 of compulsory 5 of senior high school English textbooks as an example.This study mainly answers the following three questions :(1)What is the current situation of reading learning of senior high school students?(2)What are the views of senior high school English teachers on English reading teaching?(3)Can the application of 5E teaching mode in reading teaching improve senior high school students’ reading performance?Through 15 weeks of experimental research and analysis of experimental data,the following conclusions have been drawn :(1)Currently,senior high school students have some difficulties in reading learning,and some senior high school students lack interest and confidence in reading learning.(2)Senior high school English teachers hold the same views on reading teaching.They believe that the difficulty of reading teaching lies in the structure of the article,the meaning of the topic and the cultivation of students’ thinking quality.(3)The application of 5E teaching mode in senior high school English teaching can help improve students’ interest and confidence in reading learning,improve students’ English reading performance and cultivate students’ comprehensive ability in an all-round way.Finally,this thesis proposes some enlightenment and suggestions for English reading teaching: teachers should firstly realize the usability of 5E teaching mode in reading teaching,pay attention to providing targeted guidance and help in the teaching process,and try their best to enrich students’ external resources.In addition,teachers should pay attention to the multi-evaluation of students in the teaching process,so as to cultivate students’ comprehensive ability and quality.In conclusion,this study is expected to provide a useful reference for English reading teaching in senior high schools. |
