| The source text of this translation report is selected from Part One,The Prerequisite of China’s Reform:Revolutionary Dividend,in the book Chinese Revolution and Chinese Path by Xiao Wu.This part mainly introduces several legacies of the Chinese revolution that have played a fundamental role in the formation of the Chinese path,and analyzes the implication of these legacies to the China’s reform.With Hans J.Vermeer’s Skopos Theory as guidance,this translation report analyzes the text from two aspects:vocabulary and syntax.At the level of vocabulary,the translator applies the literal translation with notes,free translation and omission to conduct analysis of political terms,four-character words and political terms according to fidelity rule and Skopos rule.In terms of syntax,different translation methods such as amplification,voice conversion coupled with division and logic manifestation are adopted by the translator to cope with sentences without subject as well as long and complex sentences so that target readers can accept them more easily in accordance with Skopos rule and c_Ioherence rule.Through the translation of the selected text,this translation report aims to emphasize the significance of the“revolution”.It clarifies various conditions that New China created in the first 30 years through revolution and construction for the reform and opening up in the next 30 years.The translator still hopes that western readers can understand the institutional significance of these conditions for China’s reform and opening up,since they not only have supported China’s economic and social development and changes,but smoothed the institutional way for China.Thus,the translation of this work will greatly help to promote foreigners’understanding of the socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as the Chinese revolution. |
