In modern Chinese,Shuizhi consists of the interrogative pronoun Shui and the verb zhi, there are two different types of usage. One type is used for counter-question,which means no one knows, and another type as a discourse marker, which has no conceptual meaning, only procedural meaning. This paper selects the second category, the discourse marker Shuizhi as the research object. The existing literature on Shuizhi focuses on the description of the nature of Shuizhi, the path of semantic evolution, and the grammaticalization process. However, most of the previous studies on Shuizhi are generally classified as members of a certain type of discourse marker, rather than a case study of Shuizhi,in which Shuizhi syntactic distribution characteristics, semantics The analysis of features and pragmatic functions has not yet been completed. At the same time, the existing Chinese dictionaries do not summarize the usage of the Shuizhi discourse markers, which makes Chinese learners easy to equate with other anti-expected discourse markers while learning Shuizhi and ignores their own characteristics. Therefore, this thesis attempts to use three plane grammar theories, discourse marker theory and systemic functional linguistics theory to study Shuizhi and combine corpus to analyze its syntactic, semantic and pragmatic functions,in order to help Chinese learners clearly.Master the usage of the utterance tag Shuizhi.Combining the large amount of corpus in CCL and BBC corpus,we use the combination of descriptive and inductive interpretation to analyze the dialogue mark Shuizhi from the three levels of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. In terms of syntactic function, firstly,it can connect the preceding and following clauses to form a complex sentence, connect the sentence to form a sentence group, and connect the paragraph to form a segment.Secondly,it can be used alone in the discourse,or co-occurring with adverbs and conjunctions. In terms of semantic function,Shuizhi as an anti-expected discourse marker, the semantic structure is Renwei A,Shuizhi B,can be subdivided into explicit co-occurrence and implicit inference, and has [+ already],[ + Unexpected],[-controllable],[+ transition] four semantic features. In addition,in terms of pragmatic functions, the textual function of Shuizhi is mainly divided into the function of turn-taking and the function of topic processing. The former is mainly manifested in the opening, continuation and transfer of the dialogue wheel, and the latter is mainly manifested in the topic.Conversion and continuation. The interpersonal functions of Shuizhi mainly include four types: predictive function, specified preset function, highlight function, and subjective evaluation function. |
