| Research on translation of economic works can help understand the influence of social, historical and cultural elements on the principles and methods of the translation of economic works and to comprehend the role of the translator. This thesis aims to discuss the translation of economic works through case studies after a historical introduction of economic translation in China since 1949 with a description of translation features for study reference.Based on this survey and the Skopos Theory, two Chinese translations of The General Theory of Employment,Interest and Money(respectively translated by Xu Yuzhan and Gao Hongye)are analyzed lexically, syntactically and stylistically. The general strategies for translating economic work are the following points.First, translators are expected to clarify the purpose of translation, then select suitable strategies.Second, translators need to focus on precisely the delivery of the original information and to adjust the complicated structures and to add annotations for difficult points so as to make sure to keep a strict, formal and professional style of the economic works and to make translation version easier to be understood when translating non-literary text such as economic work, which meets the three demands of rules of Skopos Theories.Third, economic terminologies should be accurately translated and standardized according to the standards of accuracy, uniqueness and conciseness. This study may provide reference and guidance for current economic work translation. |
