Report On C-E Translation Of Construction Scheme From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

In recent years,the construction projects of road and bridge in China have continued to develop,and their scale and speed are unprecedented.Construction personnel,management personnel and researchers in the field of road and bridge in our country have begun to go abroad,and more and more large enterprises are participating in the construction of large international projects.The academic discussion and cooperation on road and bridge construction are becoming more international.At this time,a large number of Chinese road and bridge construction schemes need to be delivered to foreign readers,and the English translation of their texts has become increasingly important.During the internship in a translation company,the author used the translation software SDL Trados to participate in the English translation of the road and bridge construction scheme text.As a scientific and technological text,the original text contains a large number of technical terms,the content is abstract and difficult to understand,and the translated text is required to convey information to the target readers concisely and accurately.Based on the functional equivalence theory,combined with the linguistic features of scientific and technological texts,this report lists a large number of cases to analyze the translation methods and techniques of construction text from four aspects:vocabulary,syntax,discourse and style.Among them,the lexical equivalence level includes the translation of technical terms,modal verbs,synonyms and polysemous words;the syntactic equivalence level includes the translation of non-subject sentences and run-on sentences,which realize syntactic equivalence by adding "it" as formal faithful to the original.As English for science and technology,electrical engineering theses involve various technologies,definitions and data.Therefore,the English abstract must be faithful to the original text and conform to the technical characteristics of English.The research shows that for the abstract translation of electrical engineering theses,at the lexical level,a professional real-time updated database can be established,and terminologies can be found from the database.All translation actions must serve the translation purpose;at the syntactic level,according to English language standards and language requirements,special attention should be paid to the differences and perversions between Chinese and English,and the passive voice is the dominant voice,and the active voice is used appropriately.When translating long and difficult sentences from Chinese to English,the translation method must be determined according to the sequence of the original text and the logic of the sentence,and then the expression method of certain components must be accurately processed;at the textual level,the logic between sentences needs to be clarified,and then each sentence should be connected through certain language means,that is,cohesion,including grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion.The abstract language of electrical engineering is very standardized,and the sentence expression is stylized.Therefore,Skopos theory can guide the translation of English abstracts of scientific engineering theses represented by electrical engineering theses...
