English Reading Habits Of Senior Students In Primary School

This paper stresses the cultivation of English reading habits of senior grade primary school students,it is from four parts: the current phenomenon,the problems in the cultivation of reading habits,the reasons and how to solve them,they are:First,the current situation of English reading habits of senior grade students in primary schools.It is mainly from the analysis of teachers,families,communities and students themselves,to understand the current situation of the cultivation of pupils’ English reading habits.Second,the problems existing in the cultivation of English reading habits of senior grade students in primary schools.Through the analysis of the results of questionnaire survey and interview,this paper mainly focuses on the teaching methods of English teachers’ reading,students’ interest in English reading,school’s reading evaluation,home-school cooperation and so on.Third,the reasons for the problems existing in the cultivation of English reading habits of senior grade students in primary schools.Through interviews,this paper finds out the causes of pupils’ bad English reading habits,and analyzes them from five aspects,namely,the light ability of social English tutoring institutions,the lagging teaching philosophy of teachers,parents’ indifference to English reading,students’ lack of reading plans and students’ indifference to English reading.Fourthly,the solutions to the problems existing in the English reading habits of senior grade students in primary schools.It is mainly carried out from five aspects: teachers,students,schools,families and communities.These strategies are aimed at promoting teachers’ in-depth study of “new basic education”.To arise the reading interest of primary school students,pay attention to the new words,and read English materials extensively in and out of class;giving more reading materials;to enhance home-school cooperation and jointly promote students’ English reading habits;improve the community volunteer service system to change reading habits and improve reading efficiency.
