With the sustained and rapid development of our society,The economic level grew steadily,and people ’s material standard of living has reached a completely new height.Compared with the past,people are willing to spend more time and energy to meet their own spiritual needs.Square dancing,as a well-known entertainment and exercise method in today’s society,has become a popular sports choice for the majority of middle-aged and elderly people due to its economy and universality.With the rapid social transformation and the great changes in the traditional collectivized family structure,the middle-aged and elderly people participating in square dancing deserve attention.This study focuses on the special group of middle-aged and elderly square dancers under the background of the new era,trying to explore the relationship between family intimacy,adaptability and mental health of middle-aged and elderly square dancers.Study 1: Through the method of questionnaire survey,Using the Family Intimacy and Adaptability Scale and Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90),300 middle-aged and elderly people in leisure square,cultural square and urban community in Lingtai County were tested.290 valid questionnaires were collected,and the proportion of middle-aged and elderly people participating in sports activities in Lingtai County was obtained.The current situation of family intimacy,adaptability and mental health of middle-aged and elderly square dancers and their relationship were analyzed.On the premise of the informed consent of the interviewees,Six square dancers were randomly selected,Using one-on-one case interviews,Based on the semi-structured interview outline related to square dancing,This paper attempts to understand the reasons why square dance participants choose this activity,the degree of family support and the subjective feelings of mental health during their participation in this activity,and puts forward practical suggestions on improving the family intimacy and adaptability of the middle-aged and elderly groups,thus improving their mental health level.Through the analysis results,it is found that:(1)The family intimacy and adaptability of the middle-aged and elderly square dancers are generally good,and their mental health level is better than that of the middle-aged and elderly people in the non-square dance group.(2)The scores of middle-aged and elderly square dancers and non-square dancers in nine dimensions of mental health are significantly different.The scores of all dimensions of middle-aged and elderly square dancers are significantly lower than those of non-square dancers,and the scores of family intimacy and family adaptability are higher than those of non-square dancers,but the differences are not significant.(3)The family intimacy,adaptability and mental health level of middle-aged and elderly square dancers are significantly different in demographic variables such as age,participation time,participation frequency and participation duration,but not in gender variables.(4)There is a significant negative correlation between family intimacy and adaptability of middle-aged and elderly square dancers and somatization,interpersonal sensitivity,obsessive-compulsive symptoms,depression,anxiety,hostility,paranoid ideation,terror,psychosis and the total score of mental health.Family intimacy and adaptability of middle-aged and elderly square dancers can predict their mental health.(5)Compared with non-square dancers,the family intimacy and adaptability of middle-aged and elderly square dancers have a significant predictive effect on their mental health,and the difference in square dance hobbies has a moderating effect on the relationship between the two.
