The Study On Ye Shi’s Theory Of Huang Ji

Ye Shi was an important philosopher in the Southern Song Dynasty.In the era,he constructed "Tao",which was obviously different from that of the Song Dynasty theorists.Ye Shi was opposed to neo-confucianism,and criticized the emptiness and unreality of the spiritual way of Neo-Confucianism.On the basis of Confucian classics and historical experience,he constructed a realistic "Tao" with "Huangji" as the center and "Daxue" and "Zhongyong" as the two wings.Ye Shi considered "Huangji Yi Yuan" he understand is the true Tao of Confucian.The Tao with "Huangji" as the center has a strong color of achievements and social ontology,so his ideas are often labeled as utilitarian.It is true that the outstanding characteristic of Ye Shi’s thought is the merit,but his thought not only has the aspect of outer sage,but also has the aspect of the moral cultivation inner sage.Ye Shi’s thought was inherited from Yongjia School,and also absorbed the thoughts of other schools in eastern Zhejiang,and developed and innovated on the basis of inheriting the thoughts of predecessors."Huangji" is the core of Ye Shizhi’s "dao","Huangji is omnipresent","dao is inseparable from the device" is the theoretical basis of Ye Shizhi’s "Huangji" thought,"building Huangji" is the key point of his "Huangji" thought.In Ye Shi’s explaining,"building Huangji" and "how to build",based on the politics of the three generations,including the system of utensils and the historical experience,proposed the requirements for the monarch’s morality,and opened the way of inner sage from top to bottom.From "Huangji" to "human ji",Ye Shi proposed the way of "learning to become virtue",that is,learning and gaining experience in practice,so as to achieve virtue and become sanctity.This path of outer sage and inner sage is carried out from "things" and practice,but will eventually be carried out to people.Therefore,his construction is logically feasible.On the whole,Ye Shi’s thought of "outer sage and inner sage" is innovative,complete and systematic,which is an important reason why he could stand out from the flourishing schools in the southern song dynasty.However,he did not break out of the framework of neo-confucianism and was not completely independent of neo-confucianism in the process of constructing the theoretical basis for the thought of achievements,which led to his incomplete and thorough attempt to reconstruct the theory of the way of outer sage and inner sage.But Ye Shi’s thought still has a important influence on later scholars especially in Ming and qing dynasty,the latter along the practical path of Ye Shi against neo-confucianism and play outer sage well,walking out of the inner sage,ended the neo-confucianism of Song which had more than five hundred years history.
