The Possibility Of "Sage’s Teachings"

Enlightenment is the foundation of Confucianism,which is not only the essence of thinking,but also a kind of practical wisdom.Mencius believed that all people could be Yao and shun,and that saints and mortals were the same,which inspired his successors and provided the inner impetus for people’s self-cultivation,Qi family,governance and peace of the world.Based on the chapter of Mencius,this paper analyzes the feasibility of the sage’s enlightenment around the chapter of Shun and Xiao.In the first part of the thesis,the author investigates the core vocabulary of "Morality","Enlightenment","Paradigm",and analyzes it in the historical background.At the same time,the Saints Make Music and rites,and the way of teaching by example is thus formed.The second part is the discussion of "The sage reveals the enlightenment",the sage is the most human relations,and also has the ideal personality,plays a decisive role in the enlightenment.After a brief overview of Confucius’ s view of the saints,Mencius expanded the standard of the saints and further discussed that the possibility of enlightenment lies in the goodness of human nature,and that the way of filial piety is the only way to the realm of the saints,to make the ideal state of the sage a reality.From this point of view,the theory of goodness of nature affirms the subjective status of human beings,makes it possible to achieve the ideal personality,and awakens the inner self-confidence of the moral subject to achieve goodness.In the third part,the author discusses how to "educate and achieve the sage".In this chapter,the author uses the form of case analysis,combining the notes of each family,to analyze shun’s choice between father,son,ruler,minister,state and the whole world,the necessity of "sage’s teaching" is further demonstrated by using "lifelong admiration" to educate the people.Mencius’ s "all can be for Yao and shun" not only shows the contribution of enlightenment,but also opens up a way for future generations to become saints.It not only recognizes the goodness of human nature,but also exalts the individual self-consciousness,constantly pursues the ideal personality,"becomes oneself" at the same time also must "the adult",in order to realize the enlightenment first later,in order to learn for the sage.
