Shen Bang’s "Wanping Country Record" is a chronicle that records the historical evolution,natural features,social economy,customs,dialects,geography and internal affairs of Wanping County in Beijing during the Wanli period.It is one of the first historical books to record the face of Beijing.It is also an important corpus for studying the actual conditions and customs of Beijing in the Ming Dynasty.Most of the words and phrases in "Wanping Country Record " are simple and plain,which can accurately reflect the true face of Wanping in the Ming Dynasty.There are many difficult words and expressions.The goal of this article is to examine and explain the interpretations of difficult words that have been identified as the research object,and use methods such as exegetics and linguistics to conduct investigations of each word,explore the exact meaning of difficult words,and involve relevant historical background,exhausted possibly comprehensive materials to explain difficult words,make up for the lack of interpretation in the "Modern Chinese Dictionary",and enhance the understanding of the social culture of the Ming Dynasty.This article contains three parts:introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction focuses on the main content and compilation characteristics of"Wanping Country Record",the author’s introduction and version,and a brief overview of Wanping County and another "Wanping County Record".The main text is a research and explanation of difficult words,divided into three sections:The first section is nominal words,a total of 10 words,which are respectively the ticket,the chenwo,the exerciser,zuojizhe,huadu,the Ming Sugar,xiezu,sunzu,Yaoao,and paoyu;the second section is adjective words,a total of 6 words,cuonv,shuolder and shoulder,qianqin,qinwo,jianzhen,qujin;the third section is There are 14 verbal words in total,which are diaocuo,Take food,select,manage,pay,arrest,tortured,pay taxes,dye,laborious,beat,prepare,fill,avoid.The conclusion part summarizes the content of the full text,puts forward the innovations of this article,points out the shortcomings of this article and the areas that need to be improved in the future.
