Ding Guangxun(also called “K.H Ting” in English)personally experienced and led the work of Christianity in China after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. His contribution is reflected in finding the starting point for the Sinicization of Christianity, cultivating talents for China’s theological education, and publishing a large number of articles and speeches to express his theological thoughts. These achievements and contributions provide valuable experience and inspiration for later researchers to study the development of Christianity in China and to construct the Chinese theological system.Based on the background and research perspective of the Sinicization of Christianity, this paper discusses Ding Guangxun’s theological thinking on the basic theological concepts such as the concept of God,Christology, creationism and ecclesiastics, starting from the problems faced by Chinese Christianity. To sum up,Ding Guangxun’s theological thought takes “God is love” as the core proposition, including the Christology of “the Christ of the universe”,the creationism of “the unity of creation and redemption”,and the theological practice of “running a good church”,which initially constructs a theological system suitable for Chinese society. As a leader of Christianity in China,Ding Guangxun promoted the process of Sinicization of Christianity with his theological practice and thinking. The study of Ding Guangxun’s theological thoughts will help us to review the development of Chinese Christian theological thoughts, reflect on the gains and losses of theological construction, and firm the direction and goal of the Sinicization of Christianity.
